Teaching Assistant - Early Years
A friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brockley is looking to appoint a committed Learning Support and Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This role is available for immediate start as well as for September, offering flexibility for the right candidate.
The successful teaching assistant will work closely with the class teacher to provide both general classroom support and targeted one-to-one or small group support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:
Supporting children in EYFS with a range of learning and developmental needs
Assisting with classroom activities, play-based learning, and structured interventions
Delivering individualised support to pupils with SEN
Promoting social development and emotional well-being
Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
The ideal teaching assistant will have:
Previous experience working in a primary school, ideally within Early Years
A good understanding of SEN and how to support children with additional needs
A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
This is a full-time opportunity within a welcoming school that values support staff as key members of the team. Both ASAP and September start dates are available.
