Teaching Assistant (Key Stage 1, Special Needs/ASD Support)
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time, starting in November 2025. This rewarding role focuses on supporting Key Stage 1 pupils, with a particular emphasis on assisting children with special educational needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to provide tailored support to pupils in Key Stage 1, fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The role involves supporting children with SEN/ASD, helping them engage with the curriculum, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN, including those with ASD.
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
Support the emotional and social development of pupils, promoting positive behaviour.
Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Candidate Requirements
Experience working with young children, ideally in an educational setting.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about supporting children with SEN/ASD.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
