Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Year 5 - Tottenham Primary School

A vibrant Primary School in Tottenham, North London, is seeking a skilled Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with significant behavioural and emotional needs. This is a long-term Teaching Assistant role, running until at least July 2026, with the potential to continue beyond that.

The Teaching Assistant will work on a one-to-one basis, helping the pupil develop positive coping strategies, regulate emotions, and engage productively in class. The school provides a strong pastoral network and excellent guidance for all staff working in behaviour-focused roles.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:

  • Deliver 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with challenging behaviour.

  • Use consistent strategies and behaviour plans to encourage emotional stability.

  • Work with teachers, SENCo, and external behaviour teams to maintain consistent support.

  • Build trust and rapport to foster engagement and self-esteem.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Previous Teaching Assistant or school-based experience in behaviour or SEN support.

  • Excellent communication and emotional regulation skills.

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly.

  • Psychology graduates with an interest in child development or SEN are highly encouraged to apply.
