Teaching Assistant - Year 6 SEMH Support - M34
Location: M34, Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £13.69 - £15.87 per hour
Contract: Full-time, long-term until the end of the academic year

Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the M34 area. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant experienced in providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs, particularly within a Year 6 setting.

The school is looking for a confident, calm, and nurturing Teaching Assistant who can offer consistent emotional support, build positive relationships, and help pupils regulate their behaviour and engage in learning. This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and able to manage sensitive situations with professionalism.

Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 SEMH support to a Year 6 pupil as a Teaching Assistant

  • Offer emotional regulation, wellbeing support, and behaviour de-escalation

  • Assist the class teacher with tailored strategies and activities

  • Build trust and rapport to create a safe learning space

  • Support the pupil both in and outside of lessons as a Teaching Assistant

  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and positive learning habits

  • Work collaboratively with staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams

  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are always followed

Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Experience supporting SEMH, behavioural needs, or 1:1 interventions

  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships

  • Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient attitude

  • Proactive, reliable, and able to use initiative as a Teaching Assistant

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

  • Commitment to a long-term Teaching Assistant role
