Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Pay: £13.68 to £15.87 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Duration: Long-term with the potential for a permanent school contract
Setting: Small SEMH provision (ages 7-16)
Reeson Education is recruiting a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in the M27 area from September. This Teaching Assistant role offers a unique opportunity to support pupils aged 7 to 16 who present with a range of needs including social, emotional and mental health challenges, trauma, brain injury, anxiety, and behavioural difficulties.
This is a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant position with the view to go temp-to-perm for the right person. You will work closely with a small, supportive team delivering tailored interventions, fun and engaging activities, and interactive learning suited to each individual's needs.
Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, nurturing Teaching Assistant support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to promote emotional regulation, behaviour support and social engagement
- Assist in planning and facilitating creative, hands-on learning experiences
- Help pupils re-engage with learning using a child-centred and trauma-informed approach
- Build meaningful relationships with children, families and staff
- Promote a safe, structured and supportive environment as a Teaching Assistant
- Support classroom routines, transitions and differentiated learning
- Track progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teachers
- Act as a calm, positive role model and motivator for young people
- Encourage resilience, confidence, and social development
Teaching Assistant - Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, youth worker or support worker in a similar setting
- A good understanding of SEMH, trauma, anxiety and behaviour management
- Compassionate, patient and adaptable approach to support
- Confidence in delivering activities and maintaining structure and boundaries
- Strong communication skills with pupils and professionals
- A genuine passion for working with children who need additional support
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
- Full-time availability from September onwards
