Tutor
Location: West London
Hours: 20 hours per week (part-time), term-time only (Monday-Friday availability required)
Pay: £30-35 per hour

We are looking for an experienced and supportive tutor to work with a young person who requires additional learning and emotional support. This is a rewarding role that involves helping to create a positive and responsive learning environment across both home and school settings in the Shepherd's Bush/West London area. Some planning (alongside school staff) and regular feedback to parents and wider professionals will be part of the role.

Tutor Role:

Based in West London, this part-time position involves delivering a tailored curriculum in collaboration with teachers and another support mentor. Strong behaviour-support and relationship-building skills are essential. The young person attends a mainstream school and receives additional support from both a tutor and a 1:1 mentor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sessions either in school or at home, depending on the student's needs

  • Deliver and adapt curriculum content (Year 7 level) in partnership with teaching staff

  • Build trust and emotional safety by working at the student's pace

  • Use positive, student-centred approaches to support engagement

  • Support independence while offering guidance when needed

  • Identify potential sensory or emotional challenges and respond appropriately

  • Encourage communication, provide processing time, and offer flexible choices

  • Help promote emotional regulation through a calm, consistent approach

  • Accompany the student to familiar and supportive environments when needed

Essential Qualities:

  • Experience supporting autistic children or young people with additional needs

  • Experience with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs is beneficial but not essential

  • Flexibility in how support is delivered
