The SEN Class Teacher Role
- Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Class Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs, SEN Class Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Portsmouth, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
- In this rewarding SEN Class Teacher role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Your expertise as an SEN Class Teacher will help develop individualised learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.
The School
The successful SEN Class Teacher applicant would be joining a small but outstanding SEN school in Portsmouth for children with ASD and SLD needs.
The school provides a range of unique enabling environments, both indoor and outdoor, which are used to maximise learning opportunities and meet pupils' specific needs.
SEN Class Teacher Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalised educational programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as necessary.
- Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development at home and in school.
SEN Class Teacher Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.
- Experience working in a Secondary education setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
