Job Title: Early Years Practitioner (x 2 roles) Term Time only available

Location: Putney SW15

Purpose:

To offer children a safe, secure, caring and supportive environment, providing opportunities to foster their growth and development within their Early Years' department. To work alongside a team of teachers and learning assistants to ensure that the highest quality of provision is provided.

Main Responsibilities

  • To motivate, stimulate and educate all children within the Early Years Department.
  • To foster a warm, caring and friendly environment for the children within the classroom.
  • To provide pastoral care and support to children within a secure learning environment.
  • To ensure that the learning environment is well prepared and organised each day.
  • To ensure that daily routines and schedules are followed including care routines for the younger children.
  • To use sound knowledge of child development to help plan, organise and facilitate activities and learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.
  • To assist with the development of children's personal, social, language and physical abilities through day-to-day activity.
  • To encourage mathematical and creative development though stories, song, games and play.
  • To be creative with approach to teaching, thinking of fun, imaginative ideas encompassing a range of different learning objectives.
  • To act as an active play partner alongside children in their play to assist them in learning new skills as well embedding previous knowledge/ learning.
  • To help children develop curiosity and knowledge.
  • To be a key teacher for a group of children.
  • To write high quality observations using this information as well as your knowledge of the child to assess and plan for future learning.
  • To record children's progress through writing Individual Learning Plans and End of Term Reports.
  • To ensure that children's learning records are up to date.
  • To build and maintain relationships with parents.
  • To take part in termly parent conferences.
  • To ensure the health and safety of children is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery or school.
  • To ensure that all children have equal opportunities to the same learning experiences.
  • To ensure that activities and interactions are differentiated to support all children's involvement and growth.
  • To feedback accurate information regarding individual children's needs both pastorally and academically.
  • To raise any concerns that you may have regarding the safety and wellbeing of individual children quickly and efficiently through following the correct protocols as outlined in the School's Safeguarding Policy and Procedure.
  • To understand and adhere to all School policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to the School's programme of clubs.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
  • Empathy and understanding of children.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Calm and caring nature.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others in particular parents, and colleagues.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about Early Years, child development and new incentives.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
  • Reliable, flexible and adaptable.
  • Reflective and ambitious.
  • Good sense of humor.
  • Committed to CPD.
