Healthcare Assistant-SEN Teaching Assistant Role-Harrow-PMLD Special Needs School-Full-Time-Feb Start
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join a specialist school in Harrow as a Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
This is a highly rewarding role that combines care and education, ideal for someone from a healthcare or care background who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex medical, physical, and learning needs within a school environment.
You will be part of a warm, supportive, and multidisciplinary team focused on ensuring pupils feel safe, valued, and able to access meaningful learning experiences every day.
Healthcare Assistant Responsibilities
Provide personal care, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene support
Support pupils with complex medical and physical needs
Assist with moving and handling, including hoisting and positioning
Work alongside the class teacher to support learning and sensory activities
Support communication using visual aids, sensory strategies, and specialist resources
Monitor pupils' wellbeing and report any concerns
Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
Healthcare Assistant Attributes:
Experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker, or Carer
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs (children or adults)
Confidence providing personal care
A calm, patient, and caring approach
Physical capability to support moving and handling duties
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs
