Specialist SEN Learning Support Assistant - ASD Resource Base

A well-established inner London primary school has recently set up a new ASD resource base to provide a supportive and inclusive education for pupils on the autistic spectrum.
The successful candidate will support a small specialist provision class, working with pupils to ensure their educational and emotional needs are met while promoting positive behaviour in a nurturing environment. They will establish professional relationships with pupils, their families, and colleagues, and encourage social inclusion where appropriate with the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with autism (ASD) in a structured, inclusive classroom setting.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Assist with personal care and day-to-day needs of pupils where necessary.
Work collaboratively with the class team and wider staff.
Encourage social interaction and integration with peers from the broader school population.
Candidate Requirements
Experience supporting SEN pupils, preferably with ASD.
Experience working in an education setting (Primary age preferable).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proactive, resilient, committed, and reliable.
Knowledge of Makaton and physical restraint training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, PRICE) desirable; training can be provided.
Ability and willingness to provide personal self-care support to pupils.
