Reeson Education is recruiting a resilient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in the M23 area of Wythenshawe. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils who are not in mainstream education and require a tailored approach to learning.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students aged 11 to 16 who present with a wide variety of complex needs, including SEMH, behavioural challenges, and additional learning difficulties. The school is looking for a confident, adaptable, and compassionate Learning Support Assistant who can build strong relationships, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils access education in a supportive environment.
Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support across KS3 and KS4
- Work with pupils with SEMH and complex needs to encourage engagement
- Support behaviour management strategies as a proactive Learning Support Assistant
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons to meet individual needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress
- Support pupils with social and emotional development as a Learning Support Assistant
- Maintain consistency and structure in daily routines
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare policies are followed at all times
- Be a reliable, calm, and adaptable presence as a Learning Support Assistant
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with SEMH pupils or in a specialist provision
- Resilience, patience, and confidence managing challenging behaviour
- A flexible and dynamic approach to supporting learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
- Full commitment to a permanent Learning Support Assistant role
