PDA Tutor:
Based in London, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Tutor to support a KS1 student with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role begins in September and offers 30 hours per week of meaningful, one-to-one teaching based in London.

About the PDA Tutor role:
- Provide one-to-one tuition across the KS1 curriculum in a nurturing and flexible way.
- Based in London in a non-school setting
Plan and deliver personalised lessons tailored to the student's individual needs, interests, and learning style.
- The PDA tutor will need to adapt resources to suit the student
Build a trusting relationship that encourages engagement
About the PDA tuition
The student has a PDA profile, which is part of the autism spectrum and characterised by:
A strong need for control and avoidance of everyday demands.
High levels of anxiety when faced with expectations.
A preference for non-directive, collaborative interactions.
The right PDA tutor will be creative, patient, and adaptable in their approach, using techniques that reduce pressure and support the student's emotional regulation.
Ideal PDA tutor:
Experience working with SEN children, particularly those with autism and/or a PDA profile.
Understanding of effective PDA strategies, such as using indirect language, offering choices, and building cooperation through trust and rapport.
Confident in planning and adapting lessons in line with KS1 learning objectives.
Calm, empathetic, and responsive to the child's needs and cues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
PDA tutor requirements:
Experience in SEN, tutoring, or teaching (particularly with autism/PDA).
Good understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
- QTS or equivalent
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
