We are currently looking for an experienced and qualified teacher to join this Outstanding SEN School in East London. The school caters for students aged 2-19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). In addition, some students at this school may exhibit challenging behaviour, sensory impairments or physical disabilities. the school is based in the London borough of Brent although students come from all over London. The class sizes in this small school are not large and are very manageable (6-8 pupils) as well as being well resourced in terms of both equipment and staffing ratios (2-3 TAs).

This SEN School boasts a number of specialist facilities on site including a multi-sensory room, soft play room, gym and playground. Situated only a short walk from the underground station and a number of bus stops making it easily accessible by public transport. This is a highly regarded special needs school with a faith ethos although staff are expected only to be sympathetic to the faith and teachers of any faith or those who are atheist in their beliefs are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

As an SEN Teacher, you would be planning and delivering lessons, differentiated to meet the individual needs of the children. The curriculum you would be delivering is aimed to provide an inclusive, supportive and challenging environment for the children and encourage them to actively participate in their learning. You would be teaching a range of subjects based on a primary model including Numeracy, Literacy, ICT, PSHE and PE at P levels 3-through to national curriculum Level 2A-2C.

Due to the needs of the children, this SEN school is looking for someone with experience in working with children with similar needs. Experience in planning differentiated lessons and marking students work is essential. Each child has an individual learning plan you would be expected to write, monitor and discuss with therapists, parents and senior leadership.

This SEN school trains all staff in Team Teach in order to manage behaviour and a number of communication aids including PECS and Makaton.
