Do you have a flexible approach, able to get the most from hard-to-reach young people?

This may be the role for you!

An SEMH School based in Barking is looking for a PPA/Cover Teacher to join their ever growing team of professionals.

The School:

All pupils referred to this School have a diagnosis of SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) and some have further learning needs such as ADHD and Dyslexia. For these young boys and girls they offer a personalised approach, small group teaching in a calm and safe environment. Each child gets attention, understanding, and behaviour intervention. Staff are incredible. They are supportive, firm and respectful. They teach the children respect and social behaviours, help them to understand their angers and their barriers to learning and encourage them to complete their studies. There is a big focus on the wider world, career goals and plans. These staff work every day to motive pupils to do well and they are very successful in doing so!

The role:

As the Cover Teacher you will deliver lessons which are planned by the Class Teacher. You must be highly flexible in order to adapt to teaching across all curriculum areas. You must be a charismatic character, able to make the learning engaging and appealing for pupils. You will have a class of only 6 pupils and the support in class with 2 TA's. Behaviour management is an important part of your role. You must know strategies to deescalate, to distract and to turn the focus back into a positive learning environment. You must be able to develop relationships with pupils across the School with various levels of ability and adapt to their interests and learning styles. Humour is a must! Confidence is a must. Are you a leader who has always been successful building rapport with students? This role is for you.
