My client is an outstanding Ofsted rated school (2018) in Southwark that is looking for a creative and vibrant SEN Teacher to join their team ASAP. They are seeking to appoint an SEN teacher who is able to demonstrate both excellent classroom practice and an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in special needs best practise. The school supports pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, autism and severe learning difficulties including pupils with communication needs. Experience in these areas would be beneficial although as the class are well supported by a TA team rated by staff as amongst the strongest in the school; the Headteacher is very happy to support primary trained teachers with a good track record and an interest in SEN.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver fun, creative, interesting lessons designed to increase stimulate sensory engagement amongst pupils. Whilst the pupils are of Secondary age their ability levels are in line with EYFS P Levels, you will be tasked with delivering multi-sensory, creative and engaging lessons that meet the learners needs whilst being age appropriate. The school encourages applications from mainstream teachers with a background in EYFS and a keen interest in special needs as it is happy to support your transition with a comprehansive and proven training pathway.
In return you will be joining a successful and vibrant SEN school based in the heart of Southwark. As a SEN teacher you will be given excellent in house training. The class is well supported by an outstanding team of TAs who are supportive and open to clear direction.
This friendly SEN school is located in a central location surrounded by local transport routes and convenient shopping and other amenities. The building is well resourced, recently refurbished and very bright making it an attractive place of work for teachers from all around London. Thanks to the forward-thinking approach taken by the Head Teacher, the school is always investing in training programmes for staff, installing new facilities and working to build a strong bond across the team. The SLT places great importance in building strong relationships with parents and in providing a positive environment for staff. There is a good social side with most of the staff making it out for a few drinks each Friday, the SLT make sure they and those with families leave early letting the younger elements of school staff blow off some steam!
Some teaching experience complex needs in a UK or English speaking SEN school is a must for applicants!
