SEN Teacher - Brixton

Location: Brixton
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £165 - £260 per day (depending on experience)

A truly supportive and specialist SEN school in Brixton had been seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. The school catered to students in Year 12, with a focus on lifeskills and Entry Level Maths and English, helping prepare them for adulthood, independence, and further opportunities beyond school.

All students at the school had a diagnosis of autism and may have presented with mild learning difficulties (MLD) and communication needs.

About the SEN Teacher role:

The appointed teacher would have led a small class of Year 12 students, planning and delivering engaging sessions in lifeskills, Entry Level Maths and English, tailored to individual learning styles and EHCP targets. This role would have been ideal for a passionate teacher looking to make a meaningful impact, regardless of whether they came from a primary or secondary background.


Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons that build practical skills for life

  • Teach Entry Level Maths and English to support functional learning

  • Foster independence, confidence, and social communication

  • Track progress and adjust teaching accordingly

  • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and the wider school team


The ideal SEN Teacher:

  • Held QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Came from either a primary or secondary teaching background

  • Had a genuine passion for working with autistic students and those with MLD

  • Had experience with or interest in teaching lifeskills and functional curriculum

  • Was adaptable, creative, and committed to inclusive education
