We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced SEN Teacher to join this 'good-outstanding' SEN School in South East London. The school caters for students aged 11 to 19 with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Many students at this school would also have some form of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex medical conditions and physical disabilities.

The school is located within short walking distance from a couple of train stations and with bus stops directly outside, this school is easily accessible by public transport. The building houses a number of specially designed teaching rooms (science, music, art, interactive, life skills and IT) in addition to a state of the art hydrotherapy room.

The successful SEN Teacher would be working in an SLD class and would be required to plan and deliver lessons to a class of around 6-8 students with the aid of one HLTA and 3 other teaching assistants. You would be teaching a range of subjects including Maths, English, Science, Art, PE and ICT must be able to differentiate lessons in order to meet the needs of each child. Students at this level would be working at high P levels or at national curriculum level 1, and in addition these subjects, there is a focus on promoting independent living and life skills to all students.

This SEN school is ideally looking for someone with experience in working with children with similar needs, however provides excellent training to all staff in PECS, Makaton and Team Teach restraining techniques at the start of the year. Overseas trained teachers with recent UK experience and NQT's are encouraged to apply.
