I am currently searching for a Primary SEN Teacher to work with in a lovely special needs school situated in Harrow. As a SEN Teacher you will be working with children that have Autism and/or Profound Multiple learning difficulties. As part of your role you will be expected to liaise with parents, mark and plan lessons, lead and manage TA's, and monitor the children's behaviour. I am looking for resilient and caring individuals who are able to remain calm in challenging situations.

What does Autism mean?

Autism which is often abbreviated to ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) could mean that individuals may have trouble with the following: Anxiety, communication, social interaction, repetitive and restrictive behaviour, varied sensitivity to certain senses such as; light, sound, taste and touch. Children with Autism may rely on different ways to communicate this maybe through PECS and Makaton.

What does PMLD mean?

Children with PMLD will have more than one disability, this could mean they may have trouble with the following: communication, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities, and mental health difficulties. Many individuals with profound multiple learning difficulties rely on different ways to communicate this maybe through such as PECS and Makaton.

This school educates those between the ages of 3 - 11 and has approximately 140 students who have special needs such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and other complex needs.
