The SEN Teacher Job

Due to an anticipated growth in numbers in their KS2 intake my client is seeking an additional primary SEN teacher to take a mixed Year 3/4 class of 7 pupils for the start of the new academic year.

As a class based SEN teacher you will be expected to plan, prepare and deliver exciting, engaging and multi-sensory lessons for children with an EHCP for Autism and related learning needs. The curriculum will be an adapted version of the primary curriculum and EYFS framework. These students have significant developmental delays which affect their communication skills which is supported through the use of PECs and for more advanced learners Makaton - some knowledge of these areas would be beneficial but not essential.

As an SEN teacher you will lead and line manage a team of 3 experienced, friendly and highly skilled SEN TAs who already know the children and will be a great support during the transition. Whilst they will initially be able to help you enjoy a smooth transition the Headteacher has said that they need direction and has specified that they would like a strong character who can engage the TAs but make sure they are clear that they manage the team rather than the team managing the teacher.

The SEN School

Located in a wonderful, beautifully maintained building with spacious grounds in West London, the school is well served by public transport into central London and there is sufficient parking on site for those who drive. The school offers all of its pupils a broad and balanced curriculum including full entitlement to the national curriculum.

This highly regarded West London SEN school is made up of three (soon to be four) classes for children aged 5-11 who have statements for Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school and its highly regarded staff team believe every child deserves to be able to access mainstream schooling and the national curriculum and in a mainstream setting.

Classes are no larger than 10 pupils and there is a deployment of two teaching assistants in every class to ensure that pupils get to access the support and teaching that they need. As a result children are offered more individual attention than could be afforded in a mainstream school.

Apply today for immediate interviews subject to DBS clearance and sufficient referencing.
