The SEN Teacher Job
I am seeking to appoint an experienced UK trained SEN Teacher for a special school in Harrow North West London starting as soon as possible. This Harrow SEN school provides for children aged 4 -16 with complex learning difficulties particularly autism. The successful applicant for this SEN Teacher role will join a really calm school where behaviour is good and the staff and students enjoy working in a focused but relaxed environment. Current employees note that they enjoy the ethos where every individual matters and where ideas and opinions are valued and treated on merit.
The school has unfortunately lost a member of staff over the Easter holidays due to a health condition. As a result they are seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Teacher. Due to the nature of the students in the class the school are looking for an SEN teacher whose first language is English. Applications from experienced SEN teachers or primary teachers with good ASD experience are welcomed.
The SEN School
This Harrow SEN school provides for 135 pupils aged 3-11 years with a wide range of complex and profound learning difficulties. These include severe autism, complex medical conditions, physical and mobility difficulties, as well as severe developmental delay. Along with teaching and classroom support staff, the school is supported by a multi-agency team of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy colleagues, teachers for pupils with vision and hearing impairments and nursing staff.
The Harrow Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams provide workshops for parents to support learning at home. Pupils have opportunities to develop positive, responsible and caring attitudes alongside personal, social and learning skills. There are high expectations of achievement and social behaviour with agreed principles between staff and pupils.
The school opened its brand new, purpose built building less than 5 years ago. The building was designed and built with the needs of children and young people with complex learning needs very much in mind and boasts superb specialist facilities including a sensory room
