THE SEN TEACHER JOB

My client is an SEN school based in Upminster, Havering that has a fantastic reputation for delivering outstanding, caring, supportive and friendly teaching and learning environment for pupils. The Headteacher is looking for a creative and vibrant SEN Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. The school has a positive and forward thinking ethos. They are seeking to appoint an SEN teacher for a KS2 SLD/ASD class who is able to demonstrate both excellent classroom practice and an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in special needs best practise. The contract is for an SEN Teacher for a term on timesheets initially with a permanent contract available after a trial period.

THE SEN SCHOOL

The school supports pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties including pupils with communication needs. The school has a Catholic ethos although this doesn't impact on the day to day activities in class or the curriculum taught. Based in Upminster, they welcome pupils from acrossEast London and Essex and surrounding areas. The school is registered with OFSTED for pupils between the ages of 4 and 19 and caters for a wide range of educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders to more severe and profound learning difficulties, as well as physical disabilities.

THE SEN TEACHER APPLICANT

The successful applicant will be an experienced SEN Teacher with a proven track record of delivering "good" to "outstanding" teaching in a special school environment. You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver fun, creative, interesting lessons designed to stimulate independent thought, interaction and sensory engagement amongst pupils. Experience teaching students with Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties or Severe Learning Difficulties would be advantageous.

Applications from an experienced SEN teacher from an ASD background who understands the challenges and the type of curriculum these children need are also actively encouraged. Unfortunately due to the complex needs of the class this is not a position that would be suitable for an NQT or a mainstream teacher seeking to transition into special needs.

BENEFITS

In return you will be joining a successful and vibrant SEN school. As a SEN teacher you will be given excellent in house training. The class is well supported by an outstanding team of TAs who are supportive and open to clear direction. If this sounds like an exciting opportunity to you please apply today!
