SEN Teacher - Primary Autism

A specialist SEN school in the London Borough of Kingston is seeking to appoint an SEN teacher to take on one of their primary classes from the start of December to cover a 1 year maternity. This school is a small specialist ASD provision for children for children in EYFS - KS2. The school is focused on children with severe autism, complex needs speech language and communication difficulties and as such the curriculum is based largely on the EYFS P Levels.

The Headteacher is seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, creative and forward thinking specialist SEN teacher with specific skills teaching children with Autism The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and committed SEN teacher with good recent ASD teaching experience. The school is a supportive environment where there is a real emphasis on the development of all pupils and teaching staff.

The Headteacher was at pains to stress that whilst they are looking for a maternity cover at present they will be expanding in September and each of the 4 new classes will need a permanent teacher. As the school has been the recipient of significant local authority and private charitable funding they are more than happy to pay a premium to get the best possible staff.

The SLT are committed to investing in CPD and they have specified that they are happy to support a good mainstream primary teacher who has the confidence and a passion for SEND.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a desire for improving pupil outcomes, as well as some ASD knowledge (through experience and/or practice). The right candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning and the skills to engage, inspire and motivate students.
