The SEN Teacher Job

I am currently looking for a qualified teacher with solid EYFS experience who would be interested in becoming an SEN teacher for a fantastic and expanding Harrow SEN school. The school are happy to train a suitable mainstream EYFS teacher who isn't experienced working with children with autism and/or SLD but has the desire to learn. Their priority is EYFS knowledge and an empathetic and creative approach to teaching and learning. The class will consist of 6 pupils and will be supported by 3 full time TAs and a full time HLTA.

SEN Teacher - Why is the job available?

The school is a delightful independent SEN school in the Harrow, it has no students who present behaviours that challenge and is blessed with an experienced, cohesive and friendly team. The school is going through an unprecedented period of growth and you will be joining as they open two new classrooms on site in Harrow. The school is a few minutes walk from the station which offers great connectivity, parking is unfortunately limited.

In response to their heavy over-subscription the school has expanded and opened new sites over the last 12 months with more sites to be opened in the next 18 months.

I am seeking to appoint a quality EYFS or Primary teacher with the desire to explore a career as an SEN Teacher to join their team from the start of January if not sooner. The role will be to teach a mixed EYFS/KS1 class working at pre-school levels who have moderate to complex autism. You will be setting up a new class with lots of SLT support.

SEN Teacher Role & Responsibilities

This Harrow based SEN Teacher role will require leading, delivering and co-ordinating lessons and curriculum to a class of 5 primary students that have cognitive and developmental difficulties including autism. You will need to be committed to ensuring pupils make good progress and encourage pupils to reach their potential through engaging and stimulating multi-sensory teaching. It is important that you are a good line manager, can set targets, can plan a sensory curriculum, write reports, liaise with parents and external agencies and communicate well with fellow staff.

The SEN School

This Harrow SEN school is a really supportive and caring working environment led by a responsive and engaged SLT who work proactively with staff and parents. The school site is well resourced, spacious and the classroom is currently being renovated with brand new fixtures, fittings and resources throughout to ensure all needs for the students around the building will be well met.

The school provides a differentiated curriculum that is inspirational, relevant and engaging; designed to meet the unique needs of all individual pupils. The
