A welcoming primary school in the London Borough of Islington is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join their team as soon as possible, with the role continuing into the new academic year this September.
About the Role:
This rewarding role involves providing targeted support for children with special educational needs within the mainstream classroom environment. You'll play an essential part in helping pupils access learning, develop key skills, and feel confident and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with special educational needs, including those with autism
Assist with phonics-based learning and literacy interventions
Create and use engaging, creative resources to support learning activities
Use strong IT skills to enhance learning and maintain accurate records
Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Support behaviour management and help pupils stay focused and motivated
We're Looking For:
Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly autism, in a mainstream primary setting
Strong phonics knowledge and experience
Confident using computers and educational technology in the classroom
Creative, flexible, and resourceful in supporting differentiated learning
Highly organised with strong communication and teamwork skills
A nurturing, positive, and proactive attitude
