Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant needed in Kilburn

(SEN Teaching Assistant)

Year 1 Class, supporting child with ASD

Early years' experience required, good understanding of nursery/reception curriculum

About the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

Reeson Education is working with an established and community based 1 form entry primary school based in Kilburn. This primary school is close to local train stations, making it accessible from most parts of London. The headteacher is looking for an experienced SEN teaching assistant to join their KS1 team in year 1. The team is friendly and supportive, you will have support from the deputy headteacher, SENCO and a supervising teaching assistant.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

The headteacher is looking for an experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a child in year 1 with Autism (ASD). The child is working towards the year 1 curriculum but will need some lessons/activities taught at an early years level, you will need to have some experience within EYFS (nursery or reception). Your role as a SEN teaching assistant will include supporting the child on a 1:1 basis inside and outside of the classroom. You will be responsible for ensuring the child's general safety, managing any behaviour and assisting the teacher to achieve academic growth.

This role is full time, 8:30am - 4pm (term time only) and the successful SEN teaching assistant must be able to commit to the entire academic year. There is also opportunity to secure a permanent position within this school from September 2025.

To qualify for this SEN teaching assistant post, you must have:

  • Minimum of 3 months SEN/EYFS experience, classroom based or relevant. Alternatively personal experience supporting special needs could also be considered
  • Hardworking attitude with the desire and passion to help students achieve greatness
  • DBS (Reeson Education are able to help you to apply should you meet all other criterias)
  • Desirable would be a degree or equivalent qualification in a child based subject
