EN Teaching Assistant - Year 4 - Autism Support - Shepherd's Bush - September Start
Are you a caring and committed individual with experience supporting children with special educational needs? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Shepherd's Bush is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with autism in Year 4, starting September 2025.
Role Overview:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism Support - Year 4)
Location: Shepherd's Bush, West London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Salary: Dependent on experience
About the Role:
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a friendly and intelligent Year 4 pupil with autism. The role will involve adapting learning materials, encouraging positive social interaction, and supporting emotional regulation to help the child engage fully with the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored support and interventions in line with the child's EHCP
Assist the pupil with daily learning tasks and classroom routines
Promote independence, confidence, and social skills
Liaise effectively with teaching staff, external professionals, and parents
Candidate Requirements:
Experience working with children with autism, ideally in a primary school setting
Calm, patient, and empathetic nature
Ability to use initiative and adapt strategies based on individual needs
Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
Training in areas such as PECS, Makaton, or TEACCH
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN training, or psychology degree)
