The Teaching Assistant Job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with a diagnosis of autism (ASD), including some pupils with more complex needs. You will work closely with learners on a one-to-one basis, helping them to engage with their learning while developing independence, literacy, and numeracy skills.

This role is ideal for someone who brings patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for supporting young people. You will play a vital part in helping pupils reach their potential and achieve meaningful progress in a nurturing setting.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will experience a high level of job satisfaction, working with primary-aged students who benefit from additional support to build independence and essential life skills. Pupils follow a carefully adapted curriculum designed to meet their individual learning needs.

The Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Work closely with class teachers to support pupil learning and attainment

  • Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and social inclusion

  • Support pupils individually or in small groups to help them access the curriculum

  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and classroom resources

  • Encourage full participation in learning and extracurricular activities

  • Use consistent behaviour management strategies in line with school policies

  • Help maintain a safe, engaging, and well-organised learning environment
