Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant needed in a 'Outstanding' school in South East London.

A Degree/Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy which is recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, is preferred for this Teaching Assistant role.

Being registered with the Health and Care Professions Council is also desirable for this Teaching Assistant role.

Membership to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists would be advantageous for this Teaching Assistant position.

You will need experience/knowledge of supporting children with ASD, ADHD, PDA and Severe Language Disorders to be able to carry out duties effectively as a Teaching Assistant.

Some elements of this Teaching Assistant role will require you to support children who face social issues and come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to all the above, confidence of using SCERTS, TEACCH and PECS/Makaton would be beneficial for this Teaching Assistant post.

Team Teach and Manual Handling training would also strengthen your application for this opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant.

The salary for this Teaching Assistant position will be between £16000 to £17000, depending on the qualifications and experiences of each candidate.

There is a heavy focus on the personal development of pupils, and they are offered a broad curriculum.

Clubs are also a key part of school life and all KS3 students are expected to attend at least one hour of extracurricular activities a week.

Requirements

Applications are welcome from you if you are a Teaching Assistant at any stage in your career, including if you are a British trained Teaching Assistant or overseas trained Teaching Assistant.

However, you must have some experience/knowledge of Speech & Language Therapy and supporting Primary/Secondary school age pupils
