An outstanding SEN School in West London Zone 1/2 is looking for a numbers of experienced and approachable SEN TA/Teaching Assistant staff for a position starting immediately.

Teaching Assistant Role Information

A unique special needs school in the borough of Westminster, West London on the Zone1/2 border. They are looking for several Teaching Assistant staff to work with pupils with severe learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorder. You will be working in a small class as part of a closely knit team of 3 teaching assistants led by an inspiring, creative, positive, and highly supportive experienced SEN teacher.

You will be working with students (11-16 years old), who all have a diagnosis of autism and related severe learning difficulties. Many of these students have difficulties in communicating and relating to people. The students will be working at low levels using a creative and multi-sensory curriculum designed to build up their social communication skills. Some children have difficulties with fine motor skills and may need help with everyday tasks, such as getting changed, cutting up food/feeding, mobility and personal hygiene including washing or using the toilet.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant

The ideal candidate will have good SLD/ASD knowledge and some experience of PECS and Makaton but the key to the job is attitude and the school are very willing to train someone who shows passion and a willingness to get stuck in.
