Teaching Assistant
Location: Salford, M5
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £13.69 - £15.87 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (30-minute lunch)
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Reeson Education is recruiting a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a Primary SEMH Provision within a mainstream primary school in Salford (M5). This is a long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils across KS2 with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils who present with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and other complex needs, providing consistent support to help them regulate emotions, access learning, and build positive relationships within the school environment.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who thrives in structured SEMH settings, understands behaviour as communication, and can remain calm, patient, and nurturing in challenging situations.

Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Support KS2 pupils within the SEMH provision as a Teaching Assistant
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support as a Teaching Assistant
  • Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs as a Teaching Assistant
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour as a Teaching Assistant
  • Adapt learning activities and resources as a Teaching Assistant
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff as a Teaching Assistant
  • Support learning during class time, interventions, and transitions as a Teaching Assistant
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement as a Teaching Assistant
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment as a Teaching Assistant
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and school policies as a Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary, SEND, or SEMH setting
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour support strategies
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD and ADHD
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach as a Teaching Assistant
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
