SEN Teaching Assistant - KS1 Autism Support - Haringey Primary School
A supportive and inclusive Primary School in Haringey is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a KS1 pupil diagnosed with Autism. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is to start ASAP and will run long-term for the full academic year, with the potential to go permanent.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil who responds well to clear structure, routine, and consistent communication. The school follows a child-centred, nurturing approach and the SENCO is extremely supportive, making this an excellent place to grow as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
The SEN Teaching Assistant will support learning, communication and emotional regulation, using visual supports, sensory breaks and step-by-step modelling. You must be patient, calm, and able to build trust gradually.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1:1 learning and emotional support in KS1
Implement Autism strategies such as visual timetables and sensory breaks
Support transitions, social interaction and independence
Work closely with the teacher and SENCO to follow support plans
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
Previous experience supporting children with Autism
A calm, nurturing and resilient approach
Commitment to working full-time on a long-term basis

Pay: £85-£100 per day
