Teaching Assistant - Reception - SEN & Sensory Support - Blackheath, Greenwich
A supportive and inclusive Primary School in the Blackheath area of Greenwich is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their Reception team from January 2026. This is a full-time Teaching Assistant role, Monday to Friday, working via Reeson Education, with a strong view to becoming permanent in July.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children with sensory needs, including twin boys who are non-verbal. The role requires a calm, nurturing, and highly experienced Teaching Assistant who understands Early Years development and can confidently support communication, regulation, and learning through play.
The Teaching Assistant role will involve:
Supporting Reception pupils with sensory needs as a Teaching Assistant
Providing focused support to non-verbal pupils using visual and sensory strategies
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and therapists as a Teaching Assistant
Supporting learning through play, routine, and structured EYFS activities
Creating a safe, calm, and engaging environment as a Teaching Assistant
The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:
Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS
Experience supporting non-verbal children and sensory needs
A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach as a Teaching Assistant
Confidence working full-time in a Reception setting
