Teaching Assistant - EYFS SEN Support - Reception - Deptford
A well-regarded Primary School in Deptford, SE London is recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to support children in a Reception class with sensory needs and communication difficulties. This Teaching Assistant role is full-time, starting January 2026, and is offered via Reeson Education, with a view to becoming permanent by July.
The school is seeking a confident Teaching Assistant with strong EYFS experience, capable of supporting non-verbal pupils, including twin boys, using structured routines, visual aids, and sensory-based strategies. This role also requires the Teaching Assistant to cover the class on Mondays and Fridays in the absence of the class teacher. All planning and teaching materials will be provided-you will simply deliver the lessons.
As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Reception children with SEN and sensory needs
Working closely with non-verbal pupils as a Teaching Assistant
Implementing visual timetables, sensory breaks, and communication strategies
Covering the class on Mondays and Fridays using pre-set work
Supporting social, emotional, and academic development as a Teaching Assistant
Collaborating with teaching staff and external professionals
Requirements for this Teaching Assistant role:
Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS
SEN experience, particularly sensory needs and non-verbal pupils
Confidence delivering lessons when covering the class teacher
A calm, consistent, and caring approach as a Teaching Assistant
Commitment to a full-time role from January
