Are you a skilled Teaching Assistant looking for a part-time role in a dynamic and supportive SEN environment? A primary school in Deptford is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their provision room team, working Monday to Thursday each week on a long-term basis starting ASAP.
This Teaching Assistant role involves supporting a class of 10-12 pupils with diverse additional needs, including Autism and SEMH, alongside a class teacher and three other LSAs. The provision is designed to offer a tailored learning experience in a calm, well-structured environment with a focus on consistency, communication, and pupil wellbeing.
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant with proven long-term SEN experience who can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture. Psychology graduates are welcomed, particularly those who are keen to apply their knowledge of child development, behaviour, and cognition in practice.
Teaching Assistant responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with complex needs in a small-group setting
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and fellow LSAs
Adapting learning materials and offering personalised support
Assisting with emotional regulation and social communication
Helping implement visual schedules, sensory breaks, and behaviour plans
The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:
Previous experience supporting SEN pupils long term
A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
Team player attitude and excellent communication
A Psychology degree or similar background is advantageous
