Reeson Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school based across two supportive and well-established sites in the M30 and M27 areas of Salford. This full-time Teaching Assistant role starts in September and is long-term with potential to lead to a direct school contract.
This fantastic opportunity is ideal for a resilient and committed Teaching Assistant who is confident travelling between two nearby sites (a driving licence and access to a car is essential). You'll be working closely with pupils aged 7 to 16 with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as associated difficulties such as anxiety, trauma, ADHD and behavioural challenges.
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work one-to-one and in small groups, helping to deliver engaging, therapeutic learning opportunities in a nurturing and structured environment. Each day will be different - but you'll be making a consistent, lasting impact on the lives of pupils who need it most.
Teaching Assistant - What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing targeted one-to-one support as a Teaching Assistant
- Supporting small group interventions for emotional regulation, literacy, and life skills
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists across both sites
- Promoting a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Assisting with behaviour management using trauma-informed, de-escalation strategies
- Tracking progress and supporting pupils in achieving their personal goals
- Offering consistent support and encouragement as a key Teaching Assistant
- Adapting approaches to meet the unique needs of individual pupils
- Acting as a reliable, emotionally grounded Teaching Assistant presence
- Contributing to a strong, collaborative school culture focused on wellbeing and inclusion
Teaching Assistant - What We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- A driving licence and access to a car (essential)
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient personality
- Confidence supporting KS2 through to KS4 pupils as a Teaching Assistant
- Ability to build strong relationships and maintain boundaries with pupils
- Passion for supporting pupils with complex needs and building their confidence
- DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
- Full-time availability from September
