We specialise in helping pupils with complex SEMH needs and behavioural difficulties, offering personalised interventions and trauma-informed approaches. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a collaborative and passionate team dedicated to improving students' wellbeing and educational outcomes.
The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who experience a range of emotional and behavioural challenges. Your responsibilities will include:
- Personalised Support: Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help students access the curriculum and develop effective coping strategies.
- Behaviour Management: Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques to promote a calm and safe learning environment.
- Emotional & Social Development: Build trusting relationships, offer emotional guidance, and help students develop resilience, self-regulation, and improved self-esteem.
- Collaboration: Work in partnership with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent and holistic support for each student.
- Team Teach: Team Teach training is desirable but not essential-successful candidates will receive free Team Teach training.
Requirements:
* Experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs.
* Strong empathy, patience, and commitment to helping young people overcome social and emotional barriers.
* Confident communicator with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
* Adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
* Understanding of behaviour management approaches is advantageous, though full training will be provided.
