Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 - ASD Support) Location: Deptford, South East London Year Group: Year 2

Role Overview:

In the capacity of an SEN Teaching Assistant, the primary responsibility revolves around working closely with the Year 2 pupil. Responsibilities:

  • The chosen candidate will be tasked with providing dedicated one-to-one support to the Year 2 pupil with ASD. This includes assistance with daily tasks and learning activities.
  • The creation and maintenance of a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters the pupil's independence and motivation are vital.
  • Collaboration with the class teacher and SENCo to develop and implement individualised support strategies.
  • The adaptation of learning materials and activities to suit the specific needs and learning style of the pupil.
  • The provision of regular feedback on the pupil's progress, as well as reporting any challenges or developments.
  • The encouragement of social interactions and positive peer relationships.
  • Active participation in creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom atmosphere.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of a safe and supportive learning space for the pupil.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Candidates with prior experience as SEN Teaching Assistants or experience working with children with ASD will be preferred.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Adaptability to customise support to the unique requirements of the pupil.
  • A genuine passion for enhancing the educational experience of children with ASD.
