Role Overview - SEN Teaching Assistant
The SEN Teaching Assistant will provide targeted support for pupils with additional learning needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO. The SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, ensuring children feel confident, supported and engaged in their learning.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant
- Providing 1:1 support for pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
- Delivering small group interventions to support learning and development
- Assisting pupils with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Supporting pupils in accessing classroom activities and lessons
- Working collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to track pupil progress
- Creating a positive and supportive learning environment
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant
- Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEN
- Understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, proactive and supportive approach to working with pupils
- Genuine passion for working as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting
