The Role: The school is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join their team on a part-time basis, working two days per week. This non-classroom based role involves overseeing and managing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring that they receive tailored support to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the provision for students with SEN, ensuring that their needs are met effectively.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on best practices for SEN teaching and learning.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students with SEN.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEN, using data to inform interventions and strategies.
  • Lead training and professional development for staff on SEN issues and strategies.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop and implement SEN policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and maintain accurate records of SEN provision.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Advocate for students with SEN, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met within the school community.


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant SENCO qualification.
  • Previous experience in a SENCO role or significant experience working with students with SEN.
  • A thorough understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
