I am seeking to appoint two permanent members of staff to teaching assistant vacancies (TAs) in a top special school for children and young people with moderate and severe learning difficulties. Most of the pupils have some form of complex learning difficulty and a high proportion of whom have a diagnosis of autism. Last term Ofsted judged the school as 'Good' with behaviour being judged as outstanding.
The school itself consists of small classes of 6-8 pupils as part of a collaborative effort working under an experienced class teacher and alongside 1 other highly skilled TA. You will be joining a happy, friendly and supportive team of professionals, who are committed to raising standards through continuous development and enhancing the learning experiences of our pupils. In January 2018 the school will be moving into a new £30m purpose built site.
These two teaching assistant vacancies are to work in their KS3 and KS4 ASD classes. Ideally you will have knowledge of how to work alongside and support pupils with barriers to learning, both sensitively and creatively. Experience working in an SEN school environment would be advantageous although the school welcomes applicants with mainstream TA experience or a background in social care alongside good academic credentials.
