An outstanding Special Educational Needs School in Camden are looking for an engaging and proactive Teaching Assistant to work with their children with Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEMH). The school works exclusively with pupils who have been excluded from mainstream primary schools to help them change their behaviour and be reintegrated into mainstream schools.
These pupils are often have difficult home lives and struggle to trust adults, therefore the ability to build rapport and develop trust through honesty and consistence is the key to success. The school are seeking to attract applicants who understand the culture, can exude a quiet authority, build rapport, gain respect and be resilient. A sense of humour and a thick skin are big bonuses when working in this environment. A good understanding of the Camden area and its social issues and youth culture would be advantageous but not essential.
Ideally applicants will have a proven track record either as a youth worker in a deprived or troubled area or working as a Teaching Assistant in a Secondary School or EBD/PRU environment. The Ideal Candidate will be:
- Experienced TA or SEMH Learning Assistant or Youth Worker with experience of SEMH
- Available to interview ASAP
- DBS cleared
- GSCE C or above in Maths, Science and English
