SEN Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the team, you will play a pivotal role in providing invaluable support to secondary school students with special educational needs within the school premises. Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  1. Collaborating with teachers to deliver tailored lessons and interventions that cater to the unique requirements of students with SEN.
  2. Assisting students in their academic progress, offering guidance with assignments, assessments, and exam preparations.
  3. Nurturing student's social and communication skills, fostering an inclusive and harmonious school community.
  4. Working alongside the teaching team to establish and maintain a positive and stimulating classroom environment.
  5. Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to support students with SEN.
  6. Offering assistance during transitions between classes and ensuring students are supported during break times.
  7. Facilitating student's access to the curriculum, adapting materials as necessary.
  8. Establishing strong partnerships with external professionals and therapists to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to support.
  9. Monitoring and tracking student's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  10. Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Requirements:

- Previous experience working with secondary school students with SEN is highly advantageous.

- A genuine passion for the field of education and supporting students with special educational needs.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

- The ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of students.

- Demonstrating patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach.
