Role Information
For this position you will need to be an experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant who has worked with primary aged pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties or who are on the Autistic spectrum.
You will be working in Islington with Key Stage 1 pupils who have significant delay in their academic and social ability.
You will be working in a class of 6 pupils alongside another experienced SEN Teaching Assistant and a specialist SEN Teacher.
The ideal teaching assistant candidate will have good ASD knowledge and some experience of PECS and Makaton but the key to the job is attitude and the school are very willing to train someone who shows passion and a willingness to get stuck in! Anyone who has experience working as a TA or LSA in a mainstream primary setting and has had some exposure to children with autism are encouraged to apply.
Please note that personal care (feeding and changing) is a part of the job and applicants who wouldn't be prepared to undertake these tasks after training will not be considered for the post.
