About the Role
A warm and community-focused Lambeth primary school near Herne Hill Station is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join their KS1 team in January, with trials taking place immediately.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support a Year 1 class through a mix of whole-class help, phonics sessions, small-group intervention work, and occasional one-to-one support for pupils who need an extra boost with early reading and writing. The class is described as friendly, energetic, and keen to learn, with a supportive teacher who values initiative and patience.
The Ideal Candidate
The school hopes to recruit a Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience in KS1 or working with early literacy
Is confident delivering phonics, early writing, and number work
Can build positive relationships with young learners
Is proactive and comfortable following clear routines
Brings enthusiasm and a calm, warm presence to the classroom
Graduates (Education, Psychology, English, Early Childhood Studies) are especially encouraged to apply, though strong school-based experience is equally valued.
