About the Role
A caring and inclusive Lambeth primary school near Streatham Station is seeking a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one SEMH support for a Year 1 pupil. The child has experienced personal trauma and currently presents with challenging behaviour, requiring consistent emotional support and clear boundaries.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and pastoral team to help the pupil regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and feel safe within the school environment. This role requires patience, empathy, and a trauma-informed approach.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs
Understands trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice
Can remain calm, consistent, and supportive during dysregulation
Is confident implementing behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
Builds trusting relationships while maintaining clear expectations
Experience in youth work, mentoring, care, or school-based SEMH support is highly desirable.
