The Role
A welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to support targeted interventions across KS1 from 13th April.
This position focuses on raising attainment in Year 1 and Year 2 through structured small-group and one-to-one support. The successful Teaching Assistant will deliver planned interventions in phonics, early reading, writing foundations, and basic maths fluency.
The role will run for the Summer Term, with strong potential to extend into the next academic year for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering targeted phonics and early literacy interventions
Supporting pupils working below age-related expectations
Running small maths booster groups
Tracking pupil progress and feeding back to the class teacher
Promoting positive behaviour and engagement during sessions
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
Has recent experience in a UK primary setting
Is confident delivering KS1 phonics (knowledge of recognised schemes desirable)
Can lead small-group interventions independently
Has strong communication and organisational skills
Is consistent, reliable, and enthusiastic
A background in Education, Child Development or previous intervention work would be advantageous.
