Teaching Assistant - Support for Non-Verbal Children with Autism (Reception Class)
Full-Time | Long-Term Contract | Hammersmith | September Start

A vibrant and inclusive primary school based in Hammersmith is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support non-verbal children with autism in their Reception class. This is a long-term role starting in September, offering the opportunity to be part of a supportive team committed to early intervention and inclusive education.

Role Details:

  • Position: Teaching Assistant - Reception (Autism Support)

  • Contract: Long-term, full-time (Monday to Friday)

  • Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm

  • Start Date: September

  • Location: Hammersmith, West London

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to non-verbal children with autism within the classroom setting

  • Assist with communication using AAC tools, PECS, or other appropriate strategies

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets

  • Encourage social development, independence, and engagement in learning activities

  • Foster a nurturing and structured environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism, ideally in an early years setting

  • Knowledge of communication strategies for non-verbal children is highly desirable

  • A calm, proactive, and empathetic approach

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
