Teaching Assistant
Location: Manchester M3

Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Manchester, supporting KS1 pupils with complex needs. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant passionate about making a real difference for pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication needs, SEMH challenges, and sensory difficulties.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide both in-class support and 1:1 intervention, helping pupils engage with learning, develop skills, and reach their potential. The ideal Teaching Assistant is patient, adaptable, and experienced in working with children with additional needs.

Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils as a Teaching Assistant

  • Support pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication, SEMH, and sensory needs

  • Assist in-class learning as a Teaching Assistant

  • Work closely with teachers and staff to implement strategies and interventions

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment as a Teaching Assistant

  • Observe and report on pupil progress to teachers and SLT

  • Promote independence, confidence, and social skills

  • Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs

  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities as a Teaching Assistant

  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in KS1 or similar

  • Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, ASD, SEMH, and sensory requirements

  • Patient, calm, and adaptable

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning desirable but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
