SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Support) - Year 1 - Hounslow - September Start

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a Year 1 child with autism at a warm and inclusive primary school in Hounslow starting September 2025.

Role Details:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support - Autism)

  • Location: Hounslow, West London

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Contract: Full-time, term-time only

  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:

You will play a vital role in supporting a delightful Year 1 pupil with autism, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence, and thrive within the school environment. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will follow an individualised learning plan and adapt activities to meet the child's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to the child throughout the school day

  • Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

  • Foster a safe and encouraging learning environment

  • Liaise regularly with teachers, SENCO, and parents to monitor progress

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other SEN in a school or similar setting

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Ability to follow and contribute to EHCP targets and behaviour support plans

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualifications, or psychology background)

  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other autism-friendly strategies
